Gu Jun was born on January 3, 1975 in Wuxi, Jiangsu, known as the greatest female badminton player era of the 1990s. She was with her partner Ge Fei dominated the women's doubles at all major championships from the mid-1990s to until the Olympics 2000. They won international championships over thirty medals which includes two IBF World Championships and two Olympic competition.

The duo also led to China regain the Uber Cup in 1998 and maintain medal winner in 2000. Gu Jun with her partner beat Yang Wei and Huang Nanyan who are both from China and won the Sydney Olympics 2000. He also won the Grand Prix World beruturut six times in a row from 1994 to 1999.
