Lucia Francisca Susi Susanti, better known by the name of Susi Susanti is one of the best women's badminton player ever owned Indonesia. Women born in Tasikmalaya is like a game of badminton since elementary school. Due to the support of his parents, he began his career in badminton club owned by his uncle, PB Tunas Tasikmalaya. After practicing for 7 years there and won the junior level badminton championships, in 1985 when Susi stepping 2nd grade junior high school, he moved to Jakarta to be more serious undergo badminton world.
In Jakarta, Susie lived in a dorm and a special school for athletes. Limited interaction with fellow athletes and training schedule is very solid. Six days a week, Monday to Saturday from 07.00 until 11.00, then proceed from 15:00 until 19:00. Rules about eating, sleep until about clothes is very tight. He is not allowed to use shoes with high heels to avoid possible injury to the foot. On Sunday, Susi prefers to rest because of fatigue rather than a trip to the mall.
At the beginning of his career in 1989, Susi has managed to become champion in the Indonesian Open. Moreover, thanks to the persistence and perseverance, Susi successfully participated donate Sudirman Cup title at the Indonesian team for the first time and have not been repeated until today. He began to dominate the female world badminton championship by winning the All England four times (1990, 1991, 1993, 1994) and became World Champion in 1993.
Susi arguably the peak of his career occurred in 1992 when he became a champion of women's singles badminton at the Barcelona Olympics. Susi became Indonesia's first gold medalist in an Olympic event. Interestingly, Alan Budikusuma which was his girlfriend at the time, also managed to become champion in men's singles, so the foreign media dubbed them as "The Bride Olympics", a nickname that happens to be true on February 9, 1997.
Susi won back the medal, this time a bronze medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, USA. Additionally, Susi also carve achievements by winning the Uber Cup in 1994 and 1996 with the team Uber Indonesia. Dozens of Grand Prix series title also he managed to achieve throughout his career.
Susi known as badminton players were calm and without emotion when playing even though he had been left far from his opponent. Susi unyielding spirit has always managed to make his supporters are confident that Susie would succeed.
Susi retire at the age of 26 years after she was married to the men's singles badminton player, Alan Budikusuma. He and Alan started life from zero again, because the government considered less concerned about the welfare of former athletes. He also admitted that it will not allow her three children to jump in the world badminton and other sports, given the fate of some former athletes who are ignored by the government.
